Bakgrund

ADHD är en diagnos som finns hos både barn och vuxna och är idag en av de vanligaste förekommande neuropsykiatriska diagnoserna. Även om diagnosens kärnsymtom är svårigheter med uppmärksamhet, impulsivitet och aktivitetsreglering, förekommer individuella variationer gällande såväl svårighetsgrad som symtombild. 

Hälso- och sjukvårdens mål är att hela befolkningen ska ha lika villkor för såväl god hälsa som vård. En jämlik fördelning av hälsa mellan samhällets grupper är en förutsättning för jämlik hälsa. Livskvalitet, vilket är individens individuella uppfattning av sin livssituation, är ett verktyg som används för att mäta hälsa. Kunskap om upplevelser av livskvalitet hos vuxna med ADHD är därför viktigt för att uppnå hälso- och sjukvårdens mål samt en jämlik hälsa i befolkningen. 

Syfte 

Att belysa livskvalitet hos vuxna med diagnosen ADHD. 

Metod 

En icke- systematisk litteraturöversikt, baserad på 15 vetenskapliga artiklar av såväl kvalitativ som kvantitativ metod. Artiklarna hämtades från databaserna PubMed och PsycInfo och kvalitetsgranskades i enlighet med Sophiahemmets Högskolas granskningsmall för kvalitetsgranskning. Resultatet sammanställdes i en integrerad analys med tre huvudkategorier och sju underkategorier.

Resultat

Resultatet belyser livskvalitet hos vuxna med diagnosen ADHD, avseende psykisk och fysisk livskvalitet, funktionell livskvalitet samt social livskvalitet. I artiklarna som utgör resultatet har livskvalitet hos vuxna med ADHD studerats i olika befolkningar och med olika mätinstrument, exempelvis EQ-5D, Adult ADHD quality of life (AAQoL) och Satisfaction with life scale (SF-36). 

Slutsats

Resultatet visar att diagnosen ADHD påverkar olika aspekter av livskvalitet och att vuxna med ADHD upplever sämre livskvalitet jämfört med övrig befolkning.

Background

ADHD is a diagnosis that exists in both children and adults and is today one of the most common neuropsychiatric diagnoses. Although the core symptoms of the diagnosis are difficulties with attention, impulsivity and activity regulation, there are individual variations regarding both the degree of difficulty and the symptom picture.

The goal of health care is that the entire population should have equal conditions for both good health and care. An equal distribution of health between the groups in a society is a condition for equal health. Quality of life, which is an individual perception of the life situation, is a tool used to measure health. Thus, knowledge of experiences of quality of life in adults with ADHD is important for achieving the goals of health care and equal health in the population.

Aim

To shed light on quality of life in adults diagnosed with ADHD.

Method

A non-systematic literature review, based on 15 scientific articles of both qualitative and quantitative design. The articles were retrieved from the databases PubMed and PsycInfo and have been quality checked in accordance with Sophiahemmet's review template. The results were compiled in an integrated analysis with three main categories and seven subcategories.  

Results

The results shed light on the quality of life of adults diagnosed with ADHD, regarding physical and mental quality of life, functional quality of life and social quality of life. In the result’s articles, quality of life in adults with ADHD has been studied in different populations and with different measuring instruments, for example EQ-5D, Adult ADHD quality of life (AAQoL) and Satisfaction with life scale (SF-36).

Conclusions

The result shows that the diagnosis ADHD affects various aspects of quality of life and that adults with ADHD experience a poorer quality of life compared with the rest of the population.
